Creating a new YOU in the New Year…

Creating a new YOU in the New Year…

How do you create a new YOU in the New Year?

I’ve been doing year-end reviews and planning my new year for longer then I can remember.

I used to throw New Years Eve parties right out of college and my focus wasn’t just on drinking and celebrating (ok it was mainly that… come on, I was 21) but it was also focused on letting go of the old and bringing in the new.

I was notorious for having a ‘project’ or process that I asked everyone to do.

One year we wrote what no longer served us on this biodegradable paper and wrapped it around rocks and threw it into the river off my condo balcony.  😀

Another year we burned our limiting beliefs in a big bonfire on my roof.

And another year we chose a word or a theme for the New Year and made bracelets with the word on them.

See, I’ve always been into this stuff. 😀

I also asked people to bring gloves and hats and we donated them to a charity.  Why not ring in the New Year doing something good?

Why let this significant moment in time pass you by without designing a new YOU?

See, we can create ourselves anew at any moment.  If we choose to. So let’s do some digging and see who we want to BE in 2019.

Here are a few questions I love to reflect on about the past year:

What was your biggest triumph in 2018?

What was the smartest decision you made in 2018?

What was the greatest lesson you learned in 2018?

Who do you need to forgive?

What area of your life could you have focused more on in 2018?

Where did you fail?

And then, and only then, can you start to plan your new year and design a new YOU.

What would you like to be your biggest triumph in 2019?

What advice would your higher self give you going into 2019?

What would you be most happy about completing in 2019?

How can you nurture yourself more?

What one word/phrase will be your prayer, intention or theme in 2019?

Those are just a few fun questions to get you started.

Next Level Live MastermindWe do an extensive year-end review and design our new year in my Next Level Life Mastermind.  This year I created an Inner Circle Mastermind where we’ll be together cheering each other on for the whole year of 2019.

Why?  Because that’s what I wanted to design in my new year.

And guess what?!  You can too.

Whatever you want to be, do or have you can do in 2019.  Literally. Not 10 years from now, not 5 years from now, NEXT YEAR!

Put some time into every area of your life and look at what you want, why you want it, and how you’re gonna get it. And your New Year will look RADICALLY different than any year before.

Let me know how I can support you being the best YOU in the New Year.  I hope you’ll join me in some fun programs to step into your best self.

What if…everything is a gift?

What if…everything is a gift?

As they say being a parent, ‘the days are long, but the years go by FAST.”

I’ve really noticed that this year.  My son is 10 and doesn’t feel young anymore.  My daughter is 7, going on 17. How did this happen?

I know you get it.

What I’m trying to do is slow time down.  By getting really present. And looking at everything as a gift.

What if we really did that?  Woke up every morning grateful for all our gifts.

For this life!

For these bodies.

For running water and electricity.

For the food in our fridge.

And the roof over our heads.

And the boy in the basement playing Fortnite.

And the love in our life.

And the paychecks.

And the snowfall.

And the Christmas cookies.

I mean really.  We are SO blessed.

No one reading this is not blessed beyond measure.  You’re probably reading this from the comfort of your own home or apartment.  On a smartphone or computer. Drinking wine or tea or coffee. Really. WE ARE SO BLESSED.

If we can just come back to that more often.  Like when we’re stressed about money. Or we’re yelling at our kids.  Or we’re thinking we’re fat. Or we’re feeling like a bad mom.

Just come back to our blessings.  And all will be ok.

After all, we got here by focusing on what we want.  So let’s focus even more on what we’re grateful for. And see what we create from there.

Today I’m more grateful than ever to have you on this journey with me.  This parenting thing ain’t for sissys. I realized right when I had my son that I needed a village.  A sisterhood. And I’m grateful every day that I build this POWERFUL positive one.

Thanks for believing in me Mommas.  And for believing in yourself. And making Christmas about so much more than just gifts.

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Wishing you all the happiness your heart and hands can hold this holiday season and beyond.

YOU. ARE. A. GIFT!

3 Tips To Eliminate Holiday Overwhelm

3 Tips To Eliminate Holiday Overwhelm

I hope you’re having a great holiday season already. It’s going by so fast. I’m decorating my house and my friends helped me. Thank God for my friends because I wouldn’t know what to do. I would just have a bunch of red Christmas pillows and that’s it.

Instead, thanks to my friend Liz at Two Story Farm House, I have all these gorgeous things and my mantel with beautiful pompoms hanging. I mean, who knew that you could hang pompoms from your mantle and it would look so cute! I’m putting up some really cute stockings and more stuff to come. It’s amazing!

Decorating for the holidays for me is like a month long because decorating isn’t easy and I needed more things. I needed more things that I really love and to get rid of some old things that I didn’t love.

So I wanted to talk quickly about some tips and tools of how you can shift out of over-whelm and really enjoy the holidays more.

These are some really simple things, but for me, they’re still kind of smack on the head, ‘Oh my God, why didn’t I do that sooner?’

Tip 1: Get Everything Into Your Calendar.

Every. little. detail. Goes into your calendar.

For example, my husband texted me and said we should order some things for Christmas Eve dinner. So I put it in the calendar for Monday at 11:00 AM.

Every. little. thing.

  • We’re dropping off some gifts at this wonderful organization today.
  • We have a family that we bought gifts for and we’re delivering them today between five and nine.
  • Take my daughter to ballet at 5:15.

So putting everything on the calendar is a big important thing.

I know it sounds silly, but I even put in my calendar when I want to reach out to my sister in law and invite her to Christmas Eve.

When things live in our head, it can feel so overwhelming. That’s where so much overwhelm comes from. So putting everything in your calendar or on paper really helps.

I have notes in my phone about people that I need to call or dinners that I want to schedule or my gift list – everything.

Overwhelm is a state of mind, but it also comes from all of the things being only up in your head.

Tip 2: Get in the Right State Every Morning.

I know I talk about this a lot, but it’s been a process for me to learn over many years. But now it’s something that I don’t miss.

Get in the right state every morning by listening to music and doing a meditation, doing some affirmations, doing a gratitude list or whatever fills you up.

During the holidays it’s so much more important to do things in the morning that get you in the right state.

You want to show up as your best self instead of frazzled and busy. I mean, if you’re a mom, you’re taking on 90-95 percent of the work, maybe 98 percent of the work. You’re doing it all so your state matters.

So do everything you can first thing in the morning to really fill you up and get into the most peaceful state possible. Then you can be ready for any of the challenges that might come your way.

Tip 3: Ask for help.

Outsource that shit as much as you can.

  • I asked my friends to come over and help me decorate and Liz showed up with things from her store and helped me decorate.
  • I asked my friend Andy to come over and help me decorate and she helped put things together.
  • I’m asking my friends to do some shopping for me.
  • I’m asking my assistant to help me with buying some of the gifts.

There’s so much that we can ask for help with and outsource.

I know we all want to be supermom. I know we all want to say that we’ve done it all, but why?

I mean if I can, I will. I love hosting things and having everyone bring something because then I have the house to host. I can have drinks and appetizers and everyone brings something. I can handle that.

On Christmas Eve I’m actually going to cook. I’m going to ask my friend Jen, who’s my most amazing chef and friend, what to do. Right? I’m going to ask her for help. I’m not going to try and do it all by myself.

Ask for help with shopping.

Ask for help with your parties.

Ask for help with everything.

I hope you’re having an awesome holiday,

Steffani
